Natural capital and broad prosperity in the Netherlands
The Monitor Broad Welfare and SDGs 2022 shows that the state of natural capital is also a cause for concern in the Netherlands. This report shows which ecosystem types occur in the Netherlands and how they contribute to broad prosperity. This relationship is established by looking at the ecosystem services they provide. The results of the survey are published in this report by Statistics Netherlands. The analysis in this report covers the period 2013 up to and including the year 2020.
In addition, we look at how our living environment has changed in the period 2013-2020. The future changes are important to know, because they can help to place the potential consequences of new spatial changes in an appropriate context. In this report, a future reform of the ecosystem will first be created by planting forests within the Forest Strategy. Based on policy intention, an estimate is made of the required space, and this certainty is based on recent spatial changes.
