ALL ANTWERP. “I would like to become a customs officer at Schiphol airport” (Antwerp)
Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Melvin Freitas Soares (19).
“We came to Park Spoor Noord with our whole class to read. It’s the first time we’ve done this. A Jihad of Love, is the book we are working on. Best interesting.”
“We are following the direction of logistics. In the future I would like to work in the customs sector. Working as a customs officer in the airport, checking the goods coming in and going out has fascinated me since I was a child.”
“I would prefer to work at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. I used to go there often, when we traveled a lot. That is really a place where I see myself completely. Do I also want to move to Amsterdam for this? Yes, I certainly would.”
“I am now in my last year of secondary school and I am happy that it is almost over. Next year I will start my bachelor’s degree at the university of applied sciences to further specialize as a customs officer. I’ve heard that it’s quite a tough course of study, but I’m happy with it.”
“Before I start college life, there is still the big holiday. In August I am going to Cape Verde for a month to visit my grandmother. Almost everyone in my family lives there. Cape Verde is really beautiful. For the first time I go without my parents but with some friends. I have an apartment there. That will be great anyway.” (vw)
