Rada hl. At today’s meeting, the City of Prague approved a memorandum of cooperation with the J&T Foundation in the preparation of a strategy for the development of a support system for vulnerable children and their families in the capital by 2030.
Prague is interested in modernizing the care of vulnerable children and has taken significant steps in the last two years. The aim of the memorandum is the strategic role of the City Hall. m of Prague, define long-term goals by 2030 and plan their implementation.
“I appreciate the developing cooperation of the capital with the J&T Foundation, because it will help Prague to catch up with the years of delay in the field of reform of care for vulnerable children. After we have managed to fully launch the modernization of the infant institution in Zbraslav, we will now continue with the transformation of the entire system of care in the administered area. The knowledge and experts that the J&T Prague Foundation offers is exactly what we need most for this task, “said Milena Johnová, Councilor for Social Policy and Health Care.
The long-term strategic document builds on current national and international commitments and trends and at the level of regional pro-family policy, sets out systemic visions and measurements, as well as defines measures specific to the target group of vulnerable children and their families. They will then be able to follow the processes of medium-term planning of service development, as well as partial grant calls or action plans in individual areas of support. The memorandum will thus be an integral part of the capital’s approach to pro-family policy, within which it will be established.
The subject of the agreement is mainly the offer to use the knowledge base of the J&T Foundation in the field of systemic modernization of care for vulnerable children, who with the help of the capital gain staff capacity to prepare a draft strategy for the system of support for vulnerable children and their families. The costs of the cooperation will be covered by the J&T Foundation in the form of a donation.
“We very much appreciate the cooperation with the City of Prague aimed at changing the system of care for children at risk. Our common goal is to improve the lives of vulnerable children and provide them with services that are primarily community-based and focused on individual care and family environment. At the same time, the original focus on developing supportive families is extremely important in order to reduce the number of children being taken from families. Everyone has the right to grow up in a family environment and we are glad that the Prague City Council has tried to ensure that this right is fulfilled for all children, “added Marie Oktábcová, director of the J&T Foundation.
The cooperation of the capital and partners from a number of expert organizations has already had positive effects in the past, when in 2019 and 2020, thanks to the cooperation between Lumos and the Department of Social Affairs of the City of Prague, For the first time, the situation of children with disabilities placed for long-term residence in institutional care institutions in the territory of Prague or in facilities established by the capital outside the region is systematically evaluated.
