Portus Prague operates sheltered housing and a social therapy workshop in the village of Slapy. Clients from the local food workshop smell of garlic
The socio-therapeutic workshop in Slapy has been operating since 2001, on weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm. It is intended for adults with mental disabilities and helps them to acquire and develop work and social skills that they can use in everyday life or to enter the labor market.
Clients of sheltered housing from Fara and Na Vyhlídce, which is another building in Slapy, operated by Portus Praha, go to this social therapy workshop. Clients of other services, which are the support of independent living, also come to the workshop.
And what does the social therapy workshop offer?
– food workshop activity (garlic cleaning),
– seasonal work in the garden on the workshop premises or at the workplace of cooperating partners (Slapy Farm, Slapy municipality, etc.),
– improvement in reading, writing, counting, environmental orientation,
– creative workshop, creative activities (according to the season and the interest of clients),
– financial and PC literacy,
– household activities – washing, ironing, cleaning, cooking,
– other activities, according to the needs of clients
On Friday, the Parish hosts the Music Group Work, which moves on every use of elements of music, theater, theater. Rehearsals of FaraBand, a band composed of clients and professional musicians, take place here. You can find out how it suits them, for example, on June 2, 2022 from 7 pm in the Therapy Café in Prague on Výton.
Svetlana Pokorná – Vrablecová, methodologist at Portus Praha, z.ú., says: “After the covid period, we try to involve our clients more in social life again, which brings, for example, visits to cafes, theaters, hairdressers, but also concerts, trips, holidays.”
