Antwerp fans want to lurk Club: “Bosuil zalkolken”
The title fight could just be decided this weekend. Club Brugge is visiting Antwerp, which has nothing to gain or lose. If Blauw-Zwart wins, it will be champion for the third time in a row. In Antwerp, they don’t want to let it get that far and they will do everything they can to help Club.
Antwerp itself is already in fourth place in the Champions’ Play-offs, with the booting on the field of RSC Anderlecht on the previous match day with 2-1. Still, the Great Old seems to be fully charging for an unadulterated top match against the rivals from West Flanders. Radja Nainggolan already indicated that she would do everything she could to disrupt the Bruges title party and the Antwerp fans are also planning to do so.
Bee sporza Dominik Van Landeghem of the Antwerp supporters’ federation leaves no doubt about it. “We absolutely want to prevent Club Brugge from playing champions on our field. I expect a swirling Bosuil stadium,” he predicts. Tribe number one would rather see Union SG play champion than Club. “The sympathy for Union is a lot bigger than that for Bruges. The story of the underdog who later becomes champion is something we would like to participate in,” says Van Landeghem.
STARTING PRICE?
A fourth place for Antwerp seems to be below the expectations of the Antwerp board. There also seems to be a good chance that the club will say goodbye to Brian Priske, who could not fulfill the towering ambitions in Antwerp. With a win against Club Brugge, the Dane could say goodbye in a beautiful way.
