the employees of Mecachrome and Capgemini, subcontractors of Airbus, demand an increase in their wages
After a widely followed day of walkouts, the strike was renewed. A rally is scheduled for Thursday, May 12, at 9:30 a.m., in front of Airbus headquarters.
The employees of two aeronautics subcontractors are mobilizing to demand an increase in their wages. After a day of walkout, Tuesday, May 10, followed by 85% of permanent workers at Mécachrome (precision mechanics), the strike was renewed.
This Thursday, May 12, in order to make their demands heard, the 6 unions of the Capgemini group (design office) and the CGT Mecachrome met at the Crabe roundabout, in front of the Airbus headquarters.
The employees of these two companies believe they are suffering “the same consequences of their management’s wage policies: contemptuous measures that do not measure up either to the results of these groups or to galloping inflation”. In a statementthe unions explain that the wages of the workers are “stuck between invoicing prices from contractors – still falling – and profitability requirements – still rising”.
Faced with these difficulties and in view of the good economic situation of companies, they want increases in their wages of up to 7%. Currently, their management is proposing an increase limited to 2.5%. Insufficient for the strikers who have already planned other days of mobilization on Monday May 16 and Tuesday May 17.
