Several stand in line to see the foul-smelling penis flower
The plant Amorphophallus titanum, which is also called penis plant and corpse flower, attracts a lot of attention due to its special appearance and smell.
This leads to more voters standing in line to get a glimpse of the plant which usually just blooms every 15 years.
– It’s pretty wild. People are definitely queuing up to see it, and often for a long time once it has opened up, says researcher and botanist at the Statens Naturhistoriske Museum, Louise Isager Ahl to TV 2.
The plant manages to germinate about every other year in the Botanical Garden in Copenhagen.

Smells bad
Every time the plant blooms, there is a lot of traffic in the Palm House, where it stands blooms.
The reason why the penis flower also goes by the name corpse flower comes from its very special smell.
Plants try to produce the scent of a corpse or raw meat to attract flies and beetles, Ahl explains.
It is also called “giant arum” and “carcass flower” because it is similar in shape and color.
It was See and hear Denmark who first mentioned the case.
Grows ten centimeters a day
Amorphophallus titanum grows ten centimeters a day just before it blooms.
– For the plant, it is about making the flower as tall and large as possible. It requires a lot of energy, says Ahl.
She further explains that their plant is going to be a little over 150 centimeters this year. The official record for such art is 306 centimeters and was measured at the Bonn Botanical Garden in 2003.
The corpse flower is best liked on Sumatra in Indonesia and is a true art. The reason why it has ended up in Denmark is because Copenhagen received it from the botanical garden in Bonn.
– One of the important roles for botanical gardens is to help with the conservation of endangered plant species, and one way to do that is by sharing your plants with other botanical gardens, Ahl explains.
