Scooter rider (15) arrested on a wild run from motorcycle agents in Amsterdam-West
The police arrested a 15-year-old scooter rider on Admiraal de Ruijterweg in Amsterdam-West this afternoon. That happened after a wild chase.
A police motorcycle team was patrolling the area when two motorcycle officers wanted to check on the boy, who was riding a moped. “He immediately took off at high speed and also drove on small roads and on the sidewalk. It was dangerous for people on the street, also think of small children on the sidewalk,” a police statement said. “So we’ve worked on that.”
On the corner with Van Gentstraat, a third motorcycle cop gave the scooter rider a ‘tap’, causing the scooter to fall. “Then he wanted to run off on foot,” said the police spokesman. “More officers came and they arrested him. That happened next to a full terrace, visitors have complimented the documents.”
The boy is suspected of riding a stolen scooter that also has a stolen license plate. He also didn’t have a driver’s license. Video images show that the arrested scooter rider shouted during the chase that his knee hurt. According to the words, it was just scrapes. “Fortunately there were no other injuries, because it was quite dangerous.”
