Municipalities near the future high-speed line Prague-Brno are concerned about water sources
Many municipalities in the vicinity of the future high-speed line between Prague and Brno are concerned about drinking sources water, some mayors provide even on the great law of the land. They expressed their reservations at today’s public hearing in Uhlířské Janovice in the Kutná Hora region. The meeting, which concerned the delimitation of the corridor in the Poříčany-Světlá nad Sázavou section, was sometimes accompanied by an exciting atmosphere. However, according to the Governor’s Deputy for Regional Development Jiří Snížek (Pirates), the mayors’ concerns are odd and the Railway Administration has previously dispelled them.
“We have fears and we have a lot of fears, because specifically in our country it concerns a large occupation in our cadastres,” the mayor of Chlístovice Jaroslav Douda (KSČM) told ČTK. I pointed out that the corridor is designed near the Vrchlice waterworks, which is a source of drinking water for a large area, including Kutná Hora and other municipalities. “We are all struggling with scarcity here water“We’re drying up here, and you’re going to build a train for us here?”
However, the Ministry of Transport has previously stated that the planned variant of the route leads five kilometers from the Vrchlice waterworks, so it does not even encroach on the protection zone of this source. water. According to Snížka, the Railway Administration has already explained that the track resources water does not touch. “The feasibility study shows that this line management is the best in terms of economy and environmental impact,” he added.
Some mayors would welcome more discussion of the project with them in advance. Snížek objected, however, that the Railway Administration addressed all municipalities and prepared a presentation for them. Douda said that the project had been discussed 18 years ago, but the mayors’ objections were swept off the table. “Now he’s dusted off again and I’m trying to catch up on everything that slept in those 18 years,” he said. According to the designers, the inspection took a long time, because Central Bohemia is densely populated and determining the optimal route is not easy.
Municipalities now have a deadline to submit comments. The Regional Authority should evaluate and incorporate it into the updated Principles of Territorial Development of the Central Bohemian Region, which will then be discussed by representatives. Then comes the next assessment in the zoning and construction proceedings.
The railway administration is preparing five new sections of high-speed lines. Construction of the first should begin in 2026, and operation in 2030. Designers are preparing detailed documentation for zoning decisions. The railway administration has identified priority sections for the preparation of high-speed lines, which are being prepared under the accelerated regime. These are the sections Prague Běchovice – Poříčany, which is still the furthest in preparation, then Poříčany – Světlá nad Sázavou, Velká Bíteš – Brno, Modřice – Šakvice, Prosenice – Ostrava Svinov, Prague Vysočany – Lovosice / Litoměřice and Ústí nad Labem west – state border Czech Republic with Germany.
Currently, the maximum permitted speed on Czech railways is 160 km / h. The fastest routes of the prepared high-speed lines should, in the case, allow a maximum speed of up to 320 km / h, other parts are being prepared for a speed of around 200 km / h.
