Great public transport errors uniform style, to the architect of the Prague subway
According to them, the metro was a deposit of Czechoslovakia, today its sign in Prague is disappearing. Anna wants to change that, among other things, by fighting visual smog.
m mn is the corner, connection, bend am mn to ki and svt, tm lpe, k.
What will metro stations D look like? In which will they be cast?
I would like to know that each route of the Prague metro is specific, it is a different system and the metro D thinks into this diversity. The basic motif will be a single work of art in otherwise neutral and technically optimized buildings, in which we will otherwise find all identical tiling materials, types of lighting and details. Metro D will be straight at first glance, at least because it will be automatic (no idea, editor’s note) and at nstupitch, the sets will be shielded from the occupants by safety walls.
Wasn’t there an architectural competition for the station?
At the time when Metro D began to be designed, no emphasis was placed on its appearance and the project competed primarily with regard to finances and references. Due to the fact that the pressure of both the general and the public on the quality of the architecture of public buildings has increased for the contracting authority and the investor, the transport company is already in favor of this procedure when creating new stations. The new metro station B Depo Zlin will be built on the basis of such a competition. At some metro stations D there will be a transparent selection of the architect, for example, at the station Nmst Brat Synk, where the ride will take place in advance. In my opinion, it is important that during the creation of such public buildings, the process is also attractive, in relatively early stages of design.
Who is Anna varcIn 2019, she drank to the Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague from the Institute of Fulfillment and Development of the Capital City of Prague. m Prague (IPR), where she wrote from 2015 to November 2016. In the IPR, she was in charge of, for example, the preparation of the design manual for metro D, she commented on and negotiated with the authors the law of the individual stations. From January 2012 to June 2015, she worked in London in various architectural studios, such as Eva Jiin Architects, Lifschutz Davison Sandilands and Studio Egret West. During this period, she prepared a design manual for the entire London Underground system. |
Which line or metro station needs the most rights?
These are unambiguous projects that arose after ninety years. Not so many high-quality materials have been used on these buildings, and there is a very noticeable tooth of time. For example, the ends of the station of route B Zlin and ern Most of this may be a good example. I would like to see the biggest changes there and some of them are already being projected. One of their biggest problems is the gradual integration into the city structure and the property set up in a continuous context.
How do you work with subway advertising? In recent years, the transport company has issued a manual with recommendations for good work with advertising, such as shops?
Newly concluded contracts have a clause on the obligation to read. When driving on the subway, I can check myself to see if the merchants comply. Personally, I see the effort, they themselves should want to be someone in the shopping mall quotes and not the thorns.
So these are shops. And what about advertising around stairs and in stations?
The advertising in the escalator tunnel disappeared completely from Charles Bridge and the Angel, but only due to the fact that the rams standing there did not fit. Unfortunately, it is a financial apartment for DPP and it has to be replaced somewhere. We are now trying to return advertising for escalators, not a bag in its original form. We want to create a kind of area in the middle of the escalator tunnel, which will not visually interfere with the steps or the vestibule. There should be no advertising at all in architecturally valuable cities, you can see in the middle of the tunnel near some coffee from McDonald’s.
In addition to advertising, you are also in charge of art. Some metro stations are decorated with the first wall paintings, the so-called murals. What do you fulfill dl?
We are inclined to return to the subway. We will soon publish it on the transport company’s website with a list of all the cities that are intended for the presentation of art. This will take you to the Mstek station, where we are in the lobby at Vclavské nmst. Dark as a standard street.
After returning to Prague, you worked for IPR and, among other things, you commented on project documentation D.
Completely, I was able to get acquainted with the whole project of metro D in time. So I got acquainted with the complex relations of the city, DP and supplier companies. I understand that even when you invest billions in urban architecture, you have to know exactly what you want from us.
How to help me in Prague new oriental system in public transportwho was recently introduced?
The crackdown on public transport works great on a general level, but there is a lack of interconnection with alternative sustainable modes of transport and a brand that will support this movement. Since the introduction of the new system, I promise mainly the credibility and transparency of the information that we find in various situations. And at the Old Town Square or at the various public transport hubs, they will have a common denominator and suitably follow each other.
So who will be the primary urn for? For tourists?
For me, it’s a pedestrian and a public transport user. Even a native of Praan may not know the streets of Mal Stran if he did not live there or drive regularly. The system will of course be important for tourists, both abroad and from other cities in the Czech Republic. Last but not least, it will help citizens with limited mobility and make their movement around the city more efficient.
