Duveaux shines in Belgium – JHM
The Nord Haut-Marnais Lucas Duveaux, licensed in Ornans, took part in two international events. He finished 25and in Germany, on a UCI hors classe round, and 6andin Belgium, on the Roc Ardenne.
Lucas Duveaux, licensed in Ornans, 22 years old, and now living in Osne-le-Val, participated in two events recently. On Sunday April 24, he was in Germany in Heubach, at the start of a UCI out-of-class round (level just below a World Cup), on an atypical route, the circuit consisted of a climb of two kilometers on the road and a very technical descent of 2 km as well. “I had one of the worst weather conditions of my life on this course, with extreme rain and cold, about one degree. It was a really tough race. Already without the weather, this circuit quickly makes the selection but then with such weather it was hell. Right off the bat, I was frozen as we were going full throttle. My teeth were chattering even in the bump, when I was pumped. The descent wasn’t even a pleasure either. My hands were so cold that I had trouble braking and shifting gears. In addition, the descent was even more difficult, the roots slipped well. Given the conditions, I’m happy to cross the finish line. There were about ten abandonments, ”summarizes the Haut-Marnais.
A great comeback in Belgium
Lucas Duveaux goes back to the whole race mentally because he was not the only one to be cold. He finished 25th.
Then Sunday 1uh May, the driver from Haute-Marne travels to Belgium, to Houffalize, to compete in the Roc Ardenne, a 60 km loop with 1,700 m of elevation gain. After a 9 a.m. start, it’s going strong. “I am not the rhythm in front and find myself around the 40and place. After 20 minutes of racing, I’m in the top 20. My legs are good so I’m riding a lot at the front of my group to try to recover places. “The circuit is very fast. It’s worth staying in the wheels out of the wind, but that’s not his philosophy. “I’m here to set the pace, so I ride without asking for a stint. At the fortieth kilometer, I’m in a group for the top 15, I know that there are twenty markers left to pick up the group in front. I do the forcing in a climb, then in the descent, I recover the group. I take this opportunity to refuel, and I attack immediately, I drive flat out to the finish, my legs unlock. It goes fast, and that makes me happy. On the finish line it’s a 6and place, at almost 24 km/h on average, it makes you smile after a complicated start to the season. In short, there is still work for the next goals, but I am motivated, ”concluded Lucas Duveaux.
