GARDEN BRUNA TALLURI IN SIENA, ACCOMMODATION WORK COMPLETED
Intervention of almost 80 thousand euros, internal project of the Municipality
Completion of the work on the “Bruna Talluri” garden, the area between viale Nazario Sauro, via Biagio di Monteluc and viale Armando Diaz. The project, all managed internally by the municipal offices, cost almost 80 thousand euros (76,298.73 euros) and involved the new flooring, the arrangement of the green areas and flower beds and the placement of the bronze statue of Biagio di Montluc, work of the artist Daphné Du Barry.
“This is – underlines the mayor of Siena Luigi De Mossi – a very important area both for the citizens of the area and for the Contrada Sovrana dell’Istrice and which needed a necessary accommodation, for which I thank the municipal offices and employees. A green area at the service of the community and also of the nearby school complex a few steps from the historic center which will now have a new life “. “We have given life – explains the councilor for urban decoration and green areas Silvia Buzzichelli – to a new intervention on a green area much used by the community, in an overall plan for the reorganization of many public spaces that had and need careful attention retraining”
Description of the intervention
-Keeping the current green perimeter band unchanged, the flowered spaces have been redistributed through the expansion of the flowerbed in front of the fountain, where, by the Sovereign Contrada dell’Istrice, the bronze statue of Biagio di Montluc, the work of the artist Daphné Du Bar, two central ovoid-shaped flower beds were also created to replace the six already existing flower beds;
– What remained of the pre-existing pavement formed by an architectural cast of gray-ocher color was removed and a pavement made of self-locking elements in vibro-compressed concrete finished with gray quartz, with a rough surface;
-The staircase that connects the gardens with via Monte Grappa – via B. di Montluc was reconsolidated and paved again;
-The lighting system has been renewed and integrated, bringing the street lamps from two to four;
– During the work, Centria Reti Gas needed to remove the methane gas pressure reduction unit present in the subsoil of the green area of Fontegiusta and to replace it with another, of a different type, positioned at limit of the same green area. This intervention involved a long suspension of the works which made it necessary, also thanks to a particularly dry seasonal trend, to postpone the planting of the arboreal and herbaceous essences envisaged by the project to next autumn.
-The arboreal and herbaceous essences that will be planted by the municipal administration next autumn are: magnolias, strawberry trees, lavender, prostrate rosemary and sage, i.e. essences that in addition to being characterized by a good adaptation to urban gardens, providing distributed blooms for a good part of the year bringing aesthetic ornament and attraction towards pollinating insects.
