Bassersdorf: Traffic accident between a bicycle and a motorcycle calls for serious injuries
Shortly before 1 p.m., a cyclist drove on Zürichstrasse from Balterswil in the direction of Brüttisellen. Shortly before the Höhenstraße junction, the 70-year-old swung into the oncoming lane for reasons that are not yet known. There he collided with an oncoming motorcycle that was driving in a moving block as part of the “Love Ride” event. The cyclist was seriously injured in the collision. After receiving first medical aid on site, the man was taken to a hospital in an ambulance. The 63-year-old motorcyclist was not injured.
The exact cause of the accident is being clarified by the Zurich cantonal police in cooperation with the public prosecutor’s office in Winterthur/Unterland.
As a result of this accident, the affected section of Zürichstrasse in the direction of Balterswil had to be closed until around 3:30 p.m. The fire department set up a detour. The process of the “Love Ride” was not hindered by this measure.
In addition to the Zurich canton police, the Dübendorf Wangen-Brüttisellen fire brigade, an ambulance and an emergency doctor from the Winterthur hospital and the responsible public prosecutor were on duty.
