Prague 5 introduces the Silent Line. The interpreting service will hold meetings with people with hearing impairments

A seemingly ordinary tablet, an internet connection and a device that significantly shows communication with people with hearing or combined disabilities is in the world. The Office of the Prague 5 District has agreed with the Tichý svět organizations on the operation of Tichá linka, which has been dealing with the issue since 2006.
“It is a matter of improving our services towards handicapped citizens. The use of modern technologies in communication with citizens is generally our priority and I am personally very happy for the cooperation with the Silent Line, “says Kateřina Černá, Secretary of the Prague 5 District Office.
The Silent Line online interpreting service enables people with hearing or combined disabilities without barriers and to communicate with hearing people with full understanding. Online sign language interpreting service or online spoken transcription according to users’ preferences. The service is available free of charge.
“We want to support the client’s support and own efforts as much as possible, not to create dependence on social services, to learn to act independently. We support the creation of such a social environment in which the social handicap of hearing loss is minimized or completely eliminated, so we strive for the accessibility of public institutions, “says Olga Blahovcová, Head of Services.
Two special tablets are located in the office buildings at Štefánikova 13, 15 and on us. October 14 at the Department of Social Issues and Crime Prevention. The Silica Line’s offer of services also includes staff training and a comprehensive introduction to the operation of the services.
