Hthe main city will have a new bridge after years. The construction of the Dvorecký Bridge, which is to connect Smíchov with Podolí between the Barrandov and Palacký Bridges, was given the green light. The city received a valid building permit on Friday. “Construction should start by the end of the holidays,” said Adam Scheinherr, Prague’s deputy mayor for transport (Prague himself). In addition, on Monday, the city will present the winners of the tender for the construction of the bridge. He will have three months to prepare for the construction and then 810 days for the construction itself. The new bridge should start serving before the end of 2024.
The designers previously estimated that the construction of the bridge would cost 972 million crowns. Given the inflation and rising prices of building materials, it is clear that its price will significantly exceed the billion mark.
Dvorecký bridge will be only for public transport and pedestrians. Nevertheless, in the future it may relieve the neighboring Barrandov Bridge, which will now go through the first stage. “We will start the second stage only after the completion of the Dvorecký Bridge, to which we will transfer all public transport. This will significantly relieve the Barrandov Bridge, ”says Scheinherr.
