Coop campaign on Danish butter in the middle of the agricultural settlement creates reactions
Fiscal policy spokesman for the Center Party, Geir Pollestad, responds that Coop has a campaign on the Danish butter Lurpak at the same time as this year’s agricultural settlement is underway.
«In the middle of the dish on Jæren. In the middle of the agricultural negotiations. In the middle of a food crisis: Then Coop Obs runs a campaign on Danish butter from Danish cows. This puts pressure on Norwegian manufacturers and farmers. And a good example that the grocery giants are only on their own team »writes Pollestad in a posts on Facebook.

The SP politician’s criticism of Coop selling butter from Denmark is supported by several in the comments section on Facebook.
«Coop has nothing to do with Norwegian food. They are only records of money! Unfortunately !!!!! »means a person.
“I would like to see comments from the management of Coop! What is the reason they want to stupidly doll out like that? “Ask another user on Facebook.
«I do not like to buy anything other than Norwegian butter. The same goes for all foods »thinks someone else.
Coop: – Not a product we sell a lot of
Coop Norge’s head of communications, Harald Kristiansen, responds to Pollestad’s butter criticism.
– Lurpak is a Danish gourmet butter which is well known in the world, and which we have chosen to include as a supplement in the large assortment. It is not a product we sell much of, and it has a higher price than much of the Norwegian butter, he writes in an e-mail to Nationen.
According to Kristiansen, Coop Obs has one of Norway’s largest selections of dairy products.
– Norwegian and local products are very important and prioritized by this range. The wide selection is some customers who are also our owners are concerned about. It inspires and increases interest in food, which gives both us and Norwegian producers. We see that a wide range is helping to lift the entire category, Coop’s communications manager answers.
Lurpak came to Norway last autumn
The nation has previously written about the Lurpak butter, which is produced by the Danish-Swedish dairy cooperative Arla, and which is used by dairy farmers in Sweden, Denmark, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg.
The Danish butter was first launched in Norway in September 2021.
– Lurpak is a quality butter that is sold in 95 countries around the world, and we think that the Norwegian consumer also deserves to have more choices in the butter category, and be able to choose Lurpak when they have to make good food, said Arla’s global press manager, Åse Andersson, to the Nation in October last year.
