a deal with the building of the Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Odessa
Moldovan law enforcement officers decided on Friday morning to search the home of former Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip, a close collaborator of fugitive oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, who led the Chisinau government from 2016 to 2019.
“This is a criminal case from the management of the PCCOCS prosecutors initiated on the fact of attempting to dispossess the Republic of Moldova of the building of the country’s consulate in Odessa. The searches are being carried out by former Prime Minister Pavel Filip, as well as several active members of the organized criminal group led by former deputy Vladimir Andronachi involved in this scheme, “Attorney General’s spokeswoman Mariana Cherpec told G4Media.
The controversial business has started from a decision of the Government Pavel Filip from February 27, 2019 which provided for the transfer from the public domain to the private domain of state property, real estate owned by the Republic of Moldova, respectively clthe Odessa Consulate, under the administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
Initially, a price well below the market price was set for the building and land. Finally, the construction was valued at $ 468,800, and the land – at $ 1,465,600.
On 31 January 2020, the beneficiary of the exchange contract, Irina Rolemskaya, the MFAEI and the Public Property Agency sued (APP) from Chisinau with the request of an obligation of two institutions to implement the provisions of the decision of the Philippine Government.
Only the government Ion Chicu repealed on July 31, 2020 hthe deception of the Government Paul Filip and gave up the exchange contract. This was followed by a series of lawsuits in the next statute. The Republic of Moldova won and the building remained in its possession.
