How do you approach the coronavirus pandemic?
The number of new cases and victims of COVID-19 continues to decline worldwide. The World Health Organization (WHO) said this in its weekly report on Wednesday, according to a report by the AP agencies.
The WHO said it had recorded 3.8 million cases of new coronavirus infections worldwide in the past week (a 17 percent weekly decline) and 15,000 deaths (a 3 percent weekly decline). However, according to the WHO, these data do not reflect the current situation, as more countries currently do not pay as much attention to the spread of COVID-19 as before.
On two continents, the WHO saw a weekly increase in new cases: by 33 percent in Africa and 13 percent in America. In India, it records up to a 70 percent increase in deaths, which the organization attributes to additional data reporting.
In the Republic of South Africa, there has been an increase in new cases of COVID-19, which, according to local officials, is likely to spread the subvariant omikro BA.4. The WHO said the new subvariant appears to be as contagious as the original omicron, but at this point it is premature to determine if it leads to higher numbers of hospitalizations or deaths.
According to Michael Ryan, director of the WHO Emergency Program, it is too early to assess whether COVID-19 is becoming a seasonal disease. He also warned against imposing anti-pandemic measures accordingly.
Coronavirus proliferation is still spreading in China. They introduced in Beijing and Shanghai. In China’s largest city, a hard lockdown is causing problems with household food supplies.
