Prague a reliable driver that they can ride the lanes. However, it has clear conditions
There are more and more bicycle lanes in cities, but some car drivers do not know how to treat them. They often go outside unnecessarily, which can endanger themselves and others. The law allows drivers to enter the cycle lane in some situations. And so did Prague, which had new pictograms drawn on the cycle lane on Evropská Street.
The width is decisive
On Wednesday, May 4, the Deputy Mayor of Prague, Adam Scheinherr, announced the new sign in the cyclist’s lane on his Twitter account: “Since yesterday at the European. We are raising awareness that a bus or truck can enter a protective lane for cyclists. This informative traffic sign will be at nine locations in Prague by the end of the month. “
But it must be said that it is not just about trucks or buses. The law states that “a driver of another vehicle may drive in a longitudinal direction on a cyclist’s lane even if the adjacent lane for that vehicle is not wide enough”. So even though the deputy and the pictograms on the road only talk about trucks, all drivers who have very wide cars have the opportunity to enter the cycle lane and would not fit into the rest of the lane. However, when entering a lane for cyclists, the driver must not endanger the cyclist in this lane.

The only exception is the so-called reserved lane for cyclists. It is marked with the appropriate red traffic sign and usually the color along its entire length. Drivers, no matter how wide their car, are not allowed to enter it.
After all, they are built mainly in places where there is enough space. The driver may only be used when passing, overtaking, turning, turning, entering a road or when special circumstances so require. By no means for normal driving.
