Summer festival of early music – Prague
The subtitle of this year’s Summer Festival of Early Music, which takes place from July 19 to August 4, is NATURA. The program will offer a wide range of musical forms in an exploratory dramaturgy. During the expansion of the composition, the authors were inspired by the sounds of animals, gardens, flowers, elements, landscapes, nature deities and other mythological beings inextricably linked to nature.
The festival will be opened by the Flemish vocal ensemble Dionysos Now!, which will pay tribute to Adrian Willaert, one of the most outstanding composers of the 16th century. The dramaturgical axis of the concert will be Marian symbolism; in addition to choral melodies, a clear, contrapuntally elaborate polyphonic motet and melodically fresh madrigals will be heard. Joined by historic percussionist Daniel Garay, Windu’s original Spanish ensemble will feature all members of the recorder family. Two masters of the harpsichord, Aapo Häkkinen (Finland) and Marcos Magalhães (Portugal), will focus on musical imitations from the world of animals and elements and other sound-painting elements, popular among composers of the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Spanish ensemble La Bellemont, whose cast includes the vihuela de mano or baroque double-rowed harp, a delightful vocal and instrumental dialogue between Renaissance Spain and Italy. German soprano Anna-Lena Elbert will be accompanied by a trio of excellent instrumentalists (Saskia Fikentscher, Kristin von der Goltz, Flóra Fábri) in a program dedicated to natural inspirations in the works of Georg Philipp Telemann and Georg Friedrich Händel. The concert of the German-South American group Los Temperamentos will then focus on various forms of the water element.
