Removal of architectural barriers and accessibility policies for Siena. These will be the major topics that the conference “The Removal of Architectural Barriers: a future of accessibility for Siena”, organized by the Municipality of Siena and Guarantor for people with disabilities, will address on Friday 6 May in the historical hall of the Municipal Library of the Intronati of Siena. Disability Minister Erika Stefani will also participate in videoconference.
“An event of great importance for disabilities and the removal of barriers – underlines Monica Barbafiera, Guarantor for people with disabilities of the Municipality of Siena – Through this type of events we want to carry out concrete proposals for the removal of architectural barriers, albeit with all the criticalities existing in a city of art like Siena. This is a technical event, which will be followed by others that will directly involve the various associations. Addressing technical and social inclusion issues, touching on various critical issues through the contribution of administrators and administration experts in the sector, both internal and external to the municipal administration. With great pleasure we will also host the greetings of Minister Erika Stefani, whom I had the pleasure of meeting in Siena in recent months and who will trace the future of the removal of architectural barriers throughout the national territory “.
The program. The event, scheduled in the historic hall of the Municipal Library of the Intronati begins at 10, after the registration of the participants, with the interventions of the councilors (health and social), Andrea Corsi (deputy mayor, mobility and transport) and Francesco Michelotti ( urban planning). The intervention of the Minister for Disability Erika Stefani, connected by videoconference, is scheduled for mid-morning.
The event will then continue with some works coordinated by Monica Barbafiera, Guarantor for people with disabilities of the Municipality of Siena. Iginio Rossi, coordinator of “Cities accessible to all” and representative of the National Institute of Urban Planning, will speak about “360 degree accessibility and social inclusion, integrated policies for cities”. It will then be the turn of the designer Maria Fossati of the Italian Institute of Technology who will talk about “Designing inclusive. From the spoon to the city, passing through the cyborgs “; Nicola Valente, president of the Order of Architects of Siena, will talk about “Architecture is accessibility”, while Liliana Mauriello, head of the Superintendence of Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Siena, Arezzo and Grosseto, will talk about “Accessibility and cultural heritage”. There will also be interventions by Francesco Montagnani, president of the Order of Engineers of Siena, Francesca Luca, expert in the removal of architectural barriers of the Municipality of Siena and Silvia Ricceri, president of the Architects Foundation of Florence.
