FRA: paid internships in Vienna for graduates

THE AGENCY
BETWEEN – European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights is the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights. Founded in 2007, it is based in Vienna, and operates as an independent reference center for the promotion and protection of the human rights of people living in the EU. The body, to defend the rights and values enshrined in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, carries out various activities. In fact, it deals with data collection and analysis, consultancy, elaboration and implementation of norms and interventions aimed at strengthening cooperation and links between the various actors operating in the sector of the fundamental rights of individuals.
BETWEEN INTERNSHIPS
During the year, the Agency activates the “Fra Traineeship Program” for select interns interested in carrying out a training and work experience at its Units. The internships offered by FRA are paid and are aimed at graduate candidates. The assignments take place in Vienna, inside the headquarters of the Agency.
By participating in the FRA internship programs it is possible to learn about the Organization’s objectives and activities, work in a multicultural and multilingual environment, put into practice the knowledge acquired during studies and enter the professional worldaddressing their constraints, duties and opportunities.
ACTIVE PHASE
The internship places offered by the FRA for the year 2022-2023 are available in the following Agency unit:
- Business Services (Business Services – CS);
- Justice, Digital and Migration (Justice, Digital and Migration – JDM);
- Equality, Rome and Social Rights (Equality, Roma and Social Rights – ERSR);
- Communications and Events (Communications and Events – COMMS);
- Cooperation and Institutional Networks (Cooperation and Institutional Networks – INST);
- Office of the Director (Office of the Director – DIR).
Aspiring interns will be able to apply exclusively for one unit.
REQUIREMENTS
Both citizens of the 27 member states of the European Union, citizens of candidate countries (Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey) and potential candidate countries (Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina) can access FRA internships. ).
In addition, the Agency’s Traineeship Program is reserved for graduated people, who have at least completed the first cycle of university education and obtained the related qualification. Also required to have an excellent knowledge of English language and one second EU language.
SELECTIONS
The selection of interns is carried out by the Organization on the basis of the applications received. The suitable profiles, since they meet the required requirements, are then contacted for atelephone interview by the representatives of the departments for which they have applied for an internship. In the event that the internship is successful, the aspiring intern will receive the internship offer. The phase concerning the screening of applications and the conduct of telephone interviews takes place, approximately, in the period May – Julywhile the appointment proposals are issued around mid-July.
DURATION AND LOCATION OF THE INTERNSHIPS
FRA internships 2022 – 2023 have a duration of 10 months and starts in October 2022. Internships take place in Vienna, in Austriaat the Agency Units.
SALARY
The FRA agency pays trainees through a monthly scholarship. For the year 2021the disbursement for internships was equal to about 1,300 euros per month. It can be conferred for FRA internships and it is clear that the candidate will be responsible for verifying the appropriate tax treatment of the income according to the rules established by his / her country of residence.
