Antwerp photos Dan Zollmann hangs in the Czech Republic (Antwerp)
Photos Dan Zollmann made of the Jewish Orthodox community in Antwerp at two galleries near Prague. The expo is related to the English translation of Minyan by Margot Vanderstraeten.
In 2017 Margot Vanderstraeten wrote down her experiences as a working student with a Jewish Orthodox family in Antwerp in Lucky Tov† In our language area 60,000 copies of that book were sold. The cover of the book was written by Dan Zollmann from Antwerp, who for decades was the only Hasidic community to photograph from the inside. Then in the fall of last year Minyan issued, an offshoot of Lucky Tov, Zollmann also provided the cover image. He also played a part in the book, in which the author further penetrates the life of the Hasidic community. Subsequently, Zollmann’s special images about Jewish life were completed in an exhibition in the Dossin barracks in Mechelen.
Appearing this weekend Minyan in Czech with a new cover image by Zollmann. In the photo, which was shot at the back of the Central Station, a Jewish man and two little ones are sitting on a couch. Both Vanderstraeten and Zollmann will be guests at a book fair in Prague from 11 to 13 June. Starting this weekend, Zollmann will also be exhibiting fifty photos in two galleries.
Later this year Minyan to Polish and Hungarian. The Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary are countries with a rich Jewish past. The roots of many Jewish families from Antwerp lie in this region.(ID card)
