a-ha in Hanover: concert in Hanover in energy-saving mode | NDR.de – culture – music

After a two-year break due to Corona, the Norwegian trio a-ha started their current tour in Hanover. However, the start was pretty tepid. “Take on Me” was the only encore.
Norwegian band a-ha broke through in 1985 with “Hunting High And Low.” Even today, the trio shows the three really great pop songs from this record, because “Take On Me” and “The Sun Always Shines on TV” are also from this debut.
However, it is questionable whether one has to play all ten tracks including the less strong melodies 37 years after the release of the LP. As some listeners found: “‘Take on me’ is the best song, but otherwise it was also very nice – especially the background images, i.e. the videos, were very well done.”
“True North”: Film with a-ha soundtrack will be released in the fall
The alleged videos in the background show many homeland images from the far north of Europe and “True North”, as keyboarder Magne Furuholmen learned, is the name of a film that is to be released in autumn and from whose soundtrack a-ha have already presented two samples.
Morten Harket has not exhausted himself
After about 45 minutes there was an unexpected break. Singer Morten Harket in particular certainly hadn’t exhausted himself. On the contrary: the frontman acted in energy-saving mode. “We were also a bit surprised that he spoke so little,” said one concert-goer.
Perhaps Morten Harket was simply disappointed that the large hall was only half full. Some of the around 4,000 fans present had bought their tickets a long time ago and had to wait a long time for the band: “Twice postponed by Corona, the first time booked in Berlin, then brought back and then said: We’re going to Hanover. That was the first concert after the Corona break. In that respect it was good,” says one viewer.
a-ha in Hanover: the audience reacts leniently to the weak concert concept
So the audience was lenient, even though the trio from Norway only performed for an hour and a quarter and skipped some hits from later albums. Perhaps the concept should have been reconsidered during the forced break.
There are better tracks in the catalog than some fillers from the debut album from 1985. So their biggest hit “Take On Me” remained the only encore. a-ha will play a concert of the tour in Hamburg on May 12th.
