Via its Book Service, the Province of Luxembourg, puts the spotlight on “The publisher of the month”
Promotion through different channels
A welcome spotlight that will allow these publishing houses to present their particularities and introduce their authors and their publications to a new audience.
“In concrete terms, each publisher will be highlighted via different channels: first physically via a stand dedicated to the publisher and its authors within the provincial bookstore in Marche-en-Famenne. Then, via the editorial staff and the distribution of content on Facebook in consultation with publishers. And finally, via events organized each month, in connection with the publishing house in the spotlight.”
At the same time, competitions to win books from each publishing house will be organised. Either via social networks around the 15th of each month. Either at the provincial bookstore where any purchase made will give you a chance to win a book.
Walloon and Gaume open the ball
This operation begins in May with the highlighting of our two well-known publishing houses which publish texts in endogenous regional languages: “Le Musée de la Parole en Ardenne” in Walloon and “Ma p’tite Édition” in the Gaume patois. “This is a great showcase for our small publishing house which, since 2016, has been trying to highlight Gaume writers through the publication of journals (“Vès l’compernez-co?” from 2017 to 2021) , CDs, poems or the French-Gaume dictionary by George Themelin, our centerpiece” points out the editor Jean-Luc Geoffroy.
Same satisfaction on the side of Joël Thiry for The Museum of the Word in the Ardennes which celebrates, in 2022, its forty years of good and loyal service in the service of the Walloon language. “This spotlight can only do good at a time when dialects are spoken less and less, it must be noted” explains the publisher, who plans to publish very soon a collection of short stories in Walloon from the writing competition organized as part of the 40th anniversary of the publishing house. “But also the 3rd volume “of our Spitante collection”, books in Walloon for children.”
