Scheinherr (Prague itself): Metro D is a building of the decade, one of the most important investments in Prague and the whole Czech Republic

Today, the City Council, on the proposal of the First Deputy Mayor of Petr Hlaváček approved the cancellation of building closures, which since 2001 have protected the future metro line D and ensured the conditions for the buildings connected to it on the surface.

This is unnecessary in the metro section from the Pankrác – Depo Písnice station today. The construction has its exact parameters given by the building permit and its construction has already begun. Simply put, the city knows where and what exactly stands above the country, further blocking of large areas around the new stations unnecessarily hampered further development of the city and without legal reasons limited the property rights of neighboring land owners, including the city itself.
“Most of the construction closures for metro line D have been valid for more than twenty years. Here you can see how long transport constructions have been prepared, which also reflects the state of current construction legislation. Now the underground has finally begun to dig and we can, with a clear conscience, stop blocking the development of the city on the surface. The subway is a strong urban element and I am looking forward to the new neighborhoods that will grow around its station. Without it, a huge investment would not even make sense. The metro is an incredibly strong impulse for the city of shorts, where you should have everything you need within walking distance, and at the same time get comfortably and quickly to where you need in the city without having to pedal, “says Petr Hlaváček, Prague’s first deputy mayor for territorial development.
According to Adam Scheinherr, Deputy Mayor for Transport, a short-distance city is the only way to sustainable transport and development. “I am very pleased that we have managed to start the construction of metro D. Thanks to this, the building closures can also be removed. Metro D is the construction of the decade, one of the most important investments in Prague and the entire Czech Republic, and the closures have so far protected it. The moment we have a building permit and we build the metro itself, there is no reason to keep the closures. We can thus continue the development in its surroundings, ”Scheinherr.
At the same time, no one has to worry about boundless construction without mantinels around new stations. “While designers and construction companies focused ‘underground’, we worked on them. Together with the landowners, we prepared urban and territorial studies and changes to the zoning plan so that the new districts gave a head and a heel, talked about the surrounding construction, thought about public amenities and definitely did not forget the squares and parks, “adds Petr Hlaváček. Deputy Hlaváček is soon preparing to present the concepts of the new districts that will arise in connection with the construction of the metro to the media and the public.
Great attention will be paid to the locality of Nové Dvory, where a large part of the land is owned by the city and is planned, among other things, by its own housing construction. “Nové Dvory is one of the few opportunities where Prague has managed to follow the example of Hamburg-type western cities, which, thanks to their land tenure, confidently decide how the development of entire districts will look like and only then establish cooperation with developers and investors,” adds Petr Urbánek , director of the Prague Development Company. The remnant of the past is that a number of strategic plots of land in Prague were sold to developers, with whom the city now has a discussion, negotiates, sets boundaries and seeks compromises, often hard and hard.
