Daily menu, May 2, 2022: Bouzková fell in the Madrid round of 16, the main competition began in Prague
Marie Bouzková fought at the clay tournament of the WTA 1000 category in Madrid for advancement to the quarterfinals, but after a huge battle she lost to Ekaterina Alexandrova 5: 7 in the third set. Kateřina Siniaková failed there in the round of 16 doubles alongside the Canadian finalist of the last US Open, Leylah Fernandez. The male challenger and the female company ITF with a subsidy of $ 60,000 continued on the second playing day on the I. ČLTK clay courts.
Czechs in action
Bouzková did not reach the quarterfinals
The singles competition at the Mutua Madrid Open will continue without a Czech trace. The last Czech representative Marie Bouzková (77th) lost in a thrilling eight-final to Ekaterina Alexandrova (45th) after more than three hours of fighting 7: 6 (4), 0: 6 and 5: 7.
Twenty-three-year-old Bouzková entered the match worse when she faced eight breakballs at 1: 4. But she averted all the threats and the introductory set eventually wiped out in the tiebreak. After the unsuccessful second set, she started the worse and the main one, in which she already played 3: 5 and gradually faced four matchmakers (three of them on the turn). Although it erased these opponents’ chances, she was unable to respond to the fifth match in the twelfth game.
Siniak ends in doubles
Kateřina Siniaková and Canadian Leylah Fernandezová finished in the doubles doubles at the Mutua Madrid Open, where Slovak Tereza Mihalíková with Norka Ulrikke Eikeri were ahead of their forces after sets 1: 6 and 4: 6. The Czech-Canadian duo did not use a 2-0 lead in the second set, when they lost the serve in the third game.
