Without a green certificate for entering Bulgaria: What are the chances of the tourist wave?
A green certificate is no longer required to enter Bulgaria. What does a return to life without limits look like?
As of today, entry into the country is without any restrictions. Those employed in the tourism industry hope this will have a positive effect on the season.
“It is important to first say that our two airports, Varna and Bourgas, are absolutely ready to welcome tourists. However, it is the passengers who decide where to go. In Greece, for example, the levels are expected to exceed those in 2019. Our expectations for this season of tourists arriving in Bulgaria by flight will be 50%, hopefully 60% of the levels before the coronavirus. This makes us think that we need a very strong marketing, because we have untapped potential as a tourist destination “, says the Chief Executive Officer of” Fraport Bulgaria “Frank Quante.
He says that the impact of the war in Ukraine on tourism in Bulgaria mostly depends on ourselves.
“It is clear that there will be no Russian tourists and no Ukrainian tourists. We must not miss the fact that you will not have tourists from Belarus. These are 600 fewer flights per year. There is no way all this will not be reflected, but it is very important what position we will take in relation to our tourism. If we just passively monitor what is happening, it will not help. It will certainly not be successful if we just stand there and let it be said that there are mines on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast that can explode every time someone enters the sea, ”said Quante.
“When it will regain its pre-coronavirus levels – again depends on all of us – governments, municipalities, companies, tour operators, hoteliers. Until we start advertising Bulgaria as a tourist destination, we will continue to be at a low level. We all need to work together to be successful.
