Cyclists demonstrate for peace and oil embargo
With a bicycle demonstration, several environmental groups in Hanover called for peace and a ban on imports of Russian oil. On Saturday afternoon, the cyclists will cover a distance of around 15 kilometers through the city centre. According to a Greenpeace spokeswoman, around 300 participants pedaled. The police language on Saturday afternoon, when the parade was still on the road, from around 140 cyclists. There were therefore no major traffic disruptions.

Everyone can help to save oil, for example people use bicycles and public transport instead of driving, said Johann Dzeik from Greenpeace Hanover in a statement. «All this is effective and a reasonable sign of solidarity with the people of Ukraine. About a third of Russian oil imports could be reduced in the short term in this way.” In addition to Greenpeace, groups from the General German Bicycle Club, the German Traffic Club and Parents4Future also took part.
