U19 Bundesliga: Eintracht Frankfurt fights for relay championship hessenschau.de
In the A-Junior Bundesliga, there is a very special constellation in the championship race on the last day – and Eintracht Frankfurt’s U19s are right in the middle. However, Jürgen Kramny’s team has to hope for mistakes from the competition.
Great tension in the season finale of the U19 Bundesliga in the south-west: A total of four teams can secure the relay championship next Saturday. One of them is Eintracht Frankfurt’s youth team.
Kramny: Have to look at us
However, the boys of coach Jürgen Kramny don’t have it in their own hands. Augsburg and Nuremberg, both placed one point ahead of Frankfurt in the table, have to make a mistake if they are to finish first. One point behind Eintracht, VfB Stuttgart is also waiting for the competition to slip up.
“First and foremost, we have to try to win our game. We know when the other clubs make a mistake, but we can’t influence that,” said Kramny in the club’s own interview. His team has to compete at 1. FC Kaiserslautern. But the other teams in the championship race also play away – Augsburg in Heidenheim and Nuremberg in Walldorf, both teams from the midfield, with Walldorf still having to tremble about staying in the class, at least in theory. VfB has an away game at the already relegated Kickers in their own city. All games kick off at 1 p.m.
Relay winner plays for the German championship
“FCK will fight and they can also score goals, so we have to be careful,” Kramny warned of their own opponent Kaiserslautern, who were still fighting to stay up. Incidentally, the A youth teams from Hessen Kassel and Kickers Offenbach have already missed it, while the youngsters from Darmstadt 98 WILL end the season in secure midfield.
For the relay winner from the south-west it is then about the German championship: In the knockout system he plays the title against the champion of the north-east league as well as champion and runner-up from the west. Eintracht last won the A youth championship in 1985.
