SBGS: Allegedly, the Turks who came to work were not allowed to enter Lithuania
Eighteen Turkish citizens were not allowed into Lithuania at Vilnius Airport by the State Border Guard Service (SBGS).
It turned out that foreigners arriving from Istanbul during the trip may have falsified the documents they provided at the request of Schengen visas, the SBGS reported on Friday.
On Thursday before noon, border guards working at Vilnius Airport checked the documents of persons arriving from Istanbul on a plane flight.
It turned out that eighteen Turkish citizens had Schengen visas entitling them to work.
The identity documents of men aged 35-56 were in order. During the inspection, the Turks also provided additional mandatory documents, allegedly proving their professional qualifications.
All foreigners held European Community car driver’s licenses issued to persons intending to carry goods. It was these documents that caused suspicion among the border guards.
It turned out that the company that organized the trip of Turkish citizens to Lithuania, preparing applications for work visas, contained untrue information – falsified certificates, which allegedly confirm that these eighteen Turkish citizens are truck drivers.
Having established this, the SBGS officers working at Vilnius Airport revoked the Turkish D-type visa and refused to allow them to enter Lithuania.
On Thursday evening, all foreigners returned to Turkey on the Vilnius-Istanbul flight.
This year, Lithuanian border guards did not allow 1304 people to enter the country through border checkpoints.
