New training for children’s choir conducting in the Archdiocese of Cologne
Cologne. After the summer holidays, the Archdiocese of Cologne is once again offering a low-threshold training course for children’s choir directors.
For many services, it is enriching when a children’s choir participates in the service. And also from a pastoral point of view, such a choir group is an important part of a congregation, since in these times it offers another facet to work with children and young people, which is not easy anyway – and opens up the opportunity for church musicians to carry out structured, constructive choir work.
But this cannot always be done by a full-time church musician alone. Then part-time or honorary choir directors are needed.
Those interested in the new training are prepared for leading a children’s choir on eleven Saturdays (in Cologne) and in the choir mentorship (near home) within a school year.
This requires at least a good singing voice – mastering an instrument would be helpful, but is not a prerequisite.
(Primary school) teachers, educators, specialists in the open all-day school, but also all other interested parties are addressed.
In addition to percussion technique, liturgy and the Cologne choir school, the candidates learn above all the didactic implementation within a rehearsal.
After the first meeting with the regional contact person, you can register by June 1, 2022. The participants pay a flat fee of 250 euros for the entire training for the lessons and the teaching material (including a “Cologne Choir School” set).
The contact person in the district deanery in Mettmann is Matthias Röttger, Tel. 02104-74671, e-mail: [email protected]
