Coronavirus in Prague: Over two thousand cases a week, the epidemic has slowed
The coronavirus epidemic in Prague continues to subside. In the past week, the numbers of newly positive and hospitalized patients with confirmed covid-19 disease decreased. The incidence also decreases, ie the number of cases per capita remains the highest in the country. In the last seven days, 2,350 new infections occurred in the metropolis, a week earlier it was about 550 more, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health. According to available data, 123 were infected in Prague hospitals this Wednesday, 170 were hospitalized a week ago.
The daily increases of those infected last week were in the hundreds. Least positive tests revealed as usual on Sunday – 178, on the other hand, most last Friday, when 433 infected came. A week earlier, statistics still recorded almost 690 cases per day. The incidence number thus decreases. Today, there are 176 covid cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the capital, making the incidence 41 lower than last Friday. However, Prague is still the region with the highest seven-day incidence. In the whole of the Czech Republic, the current number is 104. The lowest is in the Liberec region – 65.
In a metropolis where about 1.3 million people live, more than 510,000 people have been shown to have been infected with coronavirus since the epidemic began in March 2020 and 3,574 of them have died so far.
