5th Monaco E-Prix: electricity passes between the drivers and the young public
In Monaco, the eternal debate between the refractory electric and the pro-thermal is exceeded. Here, it’s simple, there’s something for everyone! And every year now. Tomorrow the 5thand E-Prix will thus have entry value before a copious month of May when the Historic and F1 Grands Prix will arrive with a bang.
While some are still struggling to come to terms with the mute mode where the cars race by producing the same whistle as their vacuum cleaner, it is undeniable that the community of electric fans is growing. Certainly the best of the six Monegasque editions, the 2021 race has also converted new spectators and the crowd is expected to be good this Saturday around the route of the Principality.
On the front line, many young people captured by an interactive or even playful discipline.
“Your questions are not simple”
It has thus become a tradition in Monaco, this Thursday morning the drivers met the schoolchildren. And if the drivers of the E-Prix show a lack of notoriety on those of the queen discipline of F1, the children of CM2 from the schools of Condamine, Saint Charles, FANB, Revoires, and Fontvieille were very happy yesterday to question the drivers of the Mercedes-EQ, Avalanche Andretti, Mahindra Racing, DS Techeetah and Envision Racing teams respectively.
And the young interviewers did not take a detour to put on the grill champions like Jean-Eric Vergne, winner in Monaco in 2019 and double world champion (2018-2019) with the Techeetah team. “Your questions are not simple”he retorted about fear behind the wheel, his salary or the difficulty of the Monaco circuit.
The questions and answers ended, in each school the signing session continued. Caps, flags, kits, E-Prix tickets… and even a cast forearm were signed!
In the FANB playground, on the Rock, the meeting even ended on the ball for a game of football with Vergne and Da Costa, the two Techeetah pilots.
This morning, it is the pupils of Monaco who are playing outside since they have been invited to go up the pit lane. A visit that should capture more than one! Before convincing the whole family to take their place in the stands on Saturday?
