Toulouse: justice orders the eviction of squatters rue des Fontaines
Nationals of Eastern European countries have illegally occupied the house of a deceased retiree on rue des Fontaines in Toulouse since mid-February. Justice has just ordered their expulsion. The heirs hope that this decision will be implemented within a reasonable time.
The case had raised the ire of the Fontaines-Garonne district committee in Toulouse (see edition of April 21). Serge Raffy, son president, had sent a letter to the prefect of Haute-Garonne to complain about the illegal occupation by a group of Bosnians of a house of a deceased person, rue des Fontaines in Toulouse.

He denounced the “numerous nuisances” supposedly produced by these squatters and asked the senior official to act, for fear that other people would take over other unoccupied houses in the neighborhood.
The heirs of Juliette Almaric, a former social security executive, who died on January 17, 2021, had gone to court to recover their property and have these nationals of Eastern countries expelled.
The Toulouse court has just given them reason. The official decision fell on Monday. The protection litigation judge ordered the immediate eviction of this group of illegal occupants. Despite everything for Max Almaric, the nephew of the deceased, it is a bit of a sham victory: “I was finally relieved both for the family and for all the residents who complained about the behavior of these people. , but I had the bailiff on the phone and that put me off. He explained the procedure to me. He will have to notify the court decision to these people by going there. He told me he would go on Thursday. If they refuse to leave, he can ask the prefecture to mobilize force to have the judge’s decision carried out. Afterwards, I have no visibility on the time it could take.
His lawyer, Me Isabelle Baysset, is careful not to put forward a deadline: “This type of case can be resolved in a few weeks but also stretch over time. In some cases, it can even last for years. Especially if there are children who occupy the dwelling concerned but the neighborhood disturbances that these squatters would cause would prefer to speed up the eviction procedure than to speed it up.
