5 exhibitions in Budapest that are worth outdoor here in the spring
The streets of Budapest are full of art, you just have to walk around the city with your eyes open. For a little help, we have brought together five exciting outdoor exhibitions and installations that await those interested in culture this spring.
Public art in Francis Square
From April 21, we will be able to run into the outdoor installation of MOME Media Design students called Spherical Stories, for which the students will attend the IX. The stories and personal experiences of those living in and around Ferenc Square were transferred to spherical, ie 360-degree media content. The students conducted interviews with the local population about the everyday life in Ferenc tér and their memories, which gave rise to a subjective and diverse interpretation of the district’s meeting place. The public installation can be viewed until May 4, and a VR garden cinema is expected on the closing day.

Natural treasures of the Visegrád Group
On the occasion of Earth Day, an outdoor exhibition was opened on the ramps of the Castle Garden Bazaar, the theme of which is the rich natural heritage of the Visegrád Group, ie Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The exhibition, which is open for free until June 12, provides a taste of the region’s many natural treasures through large, high-quality posters. The unique shots were selected by the largest nature photography associations in the four countries, so we can witness a very diverse exhibition at your fingertips from the Danube.

Madhouse Street Gallery
In the area in use in front of the Madhouse, during the delicately curved Anker, there is an open-air exhibition of Attila Stark’s graphic and painter works, which is open to the public until 17 May. The recurring motifs of his creative work, known for his KuloCity project, are the monkeys and the filthy, crowded Budapest of the turn of the millennium, which he presents in a world he has created. Beton.Hofi wrote some rhythmic lines for KuloCity’s public space drawings, which complement the works of Attila Stark and evoke everyday life in Pest.

Michael von Graffenried: The Hungarians
The open-air exhibition of the works of street photographers in Budapest can see the capital and Hungary from a new perspective, as from April 29, the panoramic images of the Swiss photographer Michael von Graffenried will be exhibited in the heart of Budapest, in the Town Hall Park. The photographer lived in Hungary for only half a year, and then a series of photos focusing on the Hungarian people was born from his experiences. Most of the pictures were taken in the capital, but Graffenried also tried to get a chance to visit the countryside. See how the Hungarian people are seen by an internationally renowned photographer!

kirakART
Musical, dance and theater performances, as well as exhibitions, fill the shop windows of Budapest throughout the city. Like last year’s (almost) outdoor event, we will be witnessing an exciting all-arts movement from 13 to 15 May in two locations this year for two days. Culture is moving into the windows of cafes, theaters and public spaces, but outdoor exhibitions and installations are also flooding the public spaces this weekend in May. Most of the programs are just ten minutes long, so it’s worth being on the lookout and looking ahead for performances you don’t want to miss in any way.
