The Czech Dance Platform festival danced to spring Prague. – Cysnews
The twenty-eighth year of the Czech Dance Platform, which took place on April 24-26, 2022 at nine locations in Prague, is over. Visitors experienced various productions in a busy program of ten works in three days.This year’s 28th Czech Dance Platform festival has traditionally presented a selection of the most interesting works of the Czech dance scene over the past year. More than a hundred professionals, most of them foreign, especially directors of cultural institutions, festivals and journalists, registered for the festival. There were five important foreign personalities of the important scene on the international jury, and the reflections again shifted the thinking about Czech dance during the discussions.
Czech dance platform
Every year, the platform offers intensive international and national contacts and subsequent cooperation. Among the guests were, for example, the director of the Tanzmesse Düsseldorf or the CODA Dance Festival in Oslo, the Italian Torinodanza, SIDance Soul, partners of European networks such as the European Dancehouse Network, Aerowaves and others.
This year, countless events were prepared for the audience in a number of spaces open to contemporary movement: PONEC – Dance Theater, Studio ALTA, Archa Theater, X10 Theater, La Fabrika, Experimental Space NoD, Savarin, but also Kasárna Karlín and space39. How do the director and founder of Tance Praha evaluate this year’s dance platform?
“Excellent atmosphere, great audience, which was praised publicly and by an international jury, which also underlined the great diversity and European quality of the Czech dance scene and performers,” says Yvona Kreuzmannová.
The event is also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the City of Prague, the Czech Center, IDU, Art District – Prague 7 and other institutions supporting internationalization.
International jury
An international jury composed of foreign experts and members of the Czech Dramaturgical Council annually reflects the works selected for the main program of the Czech Dance Platform. This year she decided to award three awards to the works that most resonated and expressed the high quality and diversity of the Czech dance scene: dis pla y Jitka Čechová and Tereza Lenerová, Call Alice Tereza Ondrová and Francesca Foscarini and Celestial Odyssey Andrey Miltnerová, Monika Knoblochová and Jana Komárka.
Lucia Kašiarová, author and performer of the performance Mnohodinec, won the Czech Centers Award for a prominent personality of the Czech Dance Platform. She decided on the possibility of a several-day study stay in one of the European cities of the Ukrainian artist. Similarly, Anna Cremonini donated her jury fee, and there was an online discussion during the platform about how to help Ukrainian artists.
Monika Knoblochová received special recognition – a special jury award – for her space concert for the eyes in the performances Celestial Odyssey by Andrey Miltnerová, Monika Knoblochová and Jan Komárek.
Voting for the Audience Award
In the end, all spectators of the platform were invited to vote for the Audience Award and chose the performance Witness by Věra Ondrašíková et al.
At the end of May and during the month, dance fans can look forward to the festival DANCE PRAGUE 2022. This year’s 34th edition will take place from 28 May to 28 June 2022 in Prague and a number of other cities and municipalities in the Czech Republic. The International Festival of Contemporary Dance and Movement Theater TANEC PRAHA is the annual peak of the dance season.
