Superstar Pink helps Berlin Ukraine refugees – BZ Berlin
What kind of crazy story is this that can only take place in Kreuzberg and Hollywood?
by Stefanie Hofeditz
Two weeks ago, when the creators of the spirits association “Freimeisterkollektiv” asked their newsletter subscribers for help for a refugee craft distiller and his family from the Ukraine, they had no idea who would help: Superstar Pink!
had war happened? The “Freimeisterkollektiv” from Kreuzberg is an association of independent spirits distillers. Anton Petrov, the owner of the Craft Distillery Voevodka in Kyiv, fled with his wife, mother-in-law and 15-month-old son. Now he supports his colleagues in Berlin and was looking for accommodation.
“Our expectations were dampened by the housing situation in Berlin. We could point to a local tip that could lead us to acceptable accommodation for the refugee family. But we never expected that help would come from the other side of the world.”
Because the post was read by pop icon Pink. In October, the singer announced herself on Instagram as a big fan of “Amaro” – an Italian bitter liqueur from the “Freimeisterkollektiv”: “Anyone who lives in and around Berlin and gets their dirty hands on this drink – you lucky son of a bitch!”
She spontaneously organized and managed an apartment in Mitte via AirBnB. For just six months. The employees are deeply moved and write:
“Humanity wins! Thank you P!NK for encouraging us in this belief. For Anton and his family it is less a happy ending than a happy new beginning.”
