Siena, ‘Blsd Angel’ award returns to Tuscan rescuers – Chronicle
Siena, April 27, 2022 – Rewarding lay rescuers who, with their readiness and training, intervened in the previous year throughout the region, saving lives thanks to the use of the defibrillator. This is the aim of the award Blessed angel, conceived by Association Siena Heart Odv. Appointment to SienaSaturday 7 May, for the fifth edition of recognition.
In all 18 the citizens who will be awarded And eight organizations and associations which got a special mention. An event that found the full support of the President of the Regional Council who underlined how this initiative is a way of saying thanks to the many women and men who, not specialized, have wanted to train to save lives. The president wore the experience of a friend suffering from a heart attack while swimming in the pool and saved by a plant operator thanks to the timely use of a debrillator. In the Regional Council, he added, there are 22 employees who are able to carry out this delicate task even though they are not experts in the sector. Investing in this field is important and the message that must be sent is that prevention, training and rescue are needed. A slice of the Tuscany of tomorrow is at stake on this. The president also launched the proposal to evaluate the possibility of funding from the regional council to have small municipalities that still lack it buy a defibrillator with the intent of saving the lives of the people living in those centers.

The vice president admitted the legislative initiative that led Tuscany, the first region in Italy, to have a law on the obligation of a sportsman defibrillator. The president of Siena Heart odv, Juri Gorelli: “Our association had this idea six years ago, as part of its activity to train citizens on the importance of rapid intervention during cardiac arrest, using the defibrillator whenever possible. We reward those citizens who do not decide to act on health, but who in other cases of necessity have dedicated themselves and did their utmost to save the life of a citizen suffering from cardiac arrest, perhaps using a defibrillator. This year we will award 18 Tuscan citizens who have done their utmost to save a life and we also have 8 special mentions to thank the institutions and associations and schools in particular that are dedicated to training their staff “.
