Heat, cold, rain, wind, snow: what are the weather records in Toulouse?

Many times in its history, Toulouse had to deal with the vagaries of the weather. This year 2022 is no exception to the rule. The 10and day of the calendar has thus reserved for the Pink City a Red alert rain-flood, with an almost historic flood of the Garonne.
But in fact, what are the weather records registered in Toulouse? And when are they from? Response elements.
The 40°C mark crossed
A large part of these records date from the XXand century. Starting with the absolute temperature record in the Pink City. Indeed, it does not come from the famous heat wave of 2003, when 40.7°C had all the same been carried out in Toulouse.
When should we go back then? On August 8, 1923. The Toulouse-Francazal station had, that day, displayed 44°C all round. A record never broken since.
Concerning the minimums, the record dates from only three years ago, since the highest was noted on July 23, 2019. The thermometer had not dropped below the bar 24.6°C.
The bar of -20°C brushed
For the records of the lowest temperatures, you have to go a little further back. Among the minimums, the mercury has gone down to the gates of -20°C: -19.2°C were recordedFebruary 15, 1956.
The lowest maximum arrived, unsurprisingly, in the same period: on February 10, 1956, in Toulouse, he had to content himself, at the height of the day, with with a temperature of -9.6°C.
A gust… at 144 km/h
There is little, it is with Autan wind that Toulouse were forced to team up. And this more than hectic partner can sometimes give way to very large gusts. The absolute record dates back to August 8, 1989, when a gust was recorded at 144 km/h. In 2019, 137 km/h had been replaced by the Francazal station, in Toulouse.
Precipitation and flood
The Pink City has sometimes had to deal with very heavy rains. It was in June 1992 that the record for precipitation was broken over a month, with 263mm in Toulouse. In one day, we have to go back to July 7, 1977, with 82.7 millimeters.
And on the scale of the floods, the Garonne has sometimes been unleashed. That of January 11, 2022 had therefore risen to 4.31 meters. The highest in the millennium was 4.38m (June 10, 2000), but the one that broke all the records dates back to June 23, 1875. On the scale of the Pont-Neuf, a historic flood of 8.32 m will be noted. 1,200 houses had been destroyed in Toulouse, and 208 corpses found under the rubble.
And the snow?
Located one hour from the Pyrenees, Toulouse sometimes welcomes white powder. If it only happens at very low intensity in recent years, there was a time when the snow took pleasure in taking up residence on the soil of Toulouse.
The Toulouse-Francazal station had noted 21cm of snow, January 18, 1980. On the side of Toulouse-Blagnac, these are 19 cm white gold which had been registered on the same day. Unmatched records.
