Commissioner Rex, investigations and pampering of a German shepherd in Vienna
Pursuits, cases to be solved, shooting, and, invitingly, even cuddling. Rex he is the most beloved German Shepherd on international television, so much so that they even dedicated a series to him about when he was a puppy in 1997 Rex puppy – the adventures of a little commissioner. And then many spinoffs, me remakes and sequels: from Italy with Rex – eight seasons from 2008 to 2015 with commissioners Kaspar Capparoni, Ettore Bassi and Francesco Arca – to Poland up to the Slovak version, Komisàr Rexand to the Canadian one Hudson and Rex of 2019.
Commissioner Rex returns with the historical series that introduced the public to the phenomenal police dog and his human colleagues from the Vienna Homicide Squad. The fiction will be broadcast on Rai 4 from Wednesday 27 April. Designed by Peter Hajek And Pietro Moserwas among the greatest hits of Austrian television, counting ten seasons, from 1994 to 2004, a spinoff and a film for TV, as well as several remakes of other nationalities, including a sequel / reboot produced in Italy in 2008.
The Commissioner Rex is set in Vienna and is based on Kriminalpolizei, the Austrian Criminal Police, in particular from the Homicide Squad by Commissioner Richard Moser, detective Ernst Stockinger, detective Peter Hollerer and, of course, Rex, a German shepherd dog or in search of corpses and nose for smuggling and drugs. Their investigations often need to be coroner Leo Gra and retired cop Max Koch to form a close-knit team ready to solve the most complex criminal cases. Over the course of the entire series, the cast has varied more than once over the course of ten years, and, to the familiar face of Commissioner Moser, played by Tobia Morettifollowed by Commissioner Brandtner played by Gedeon Burkhard and finally Commissioner Hoffman of Alexander Pschillas well as the supporting actors have found frequent turnover over the ten seasons, with the exception of doctor Leo Graf, present in all 120 episodes and always interpreted by Gerhard Zemann.
Part of the successor of the Commissioner Rex is due to the perfect mix between the detective investigation, which often take on dramatic tones looking at the lesson of classic detective series, and the lightness of family comedy, ensured by the presence of the tender, fierce and irresistible Rex, a smart German shepherd, a faithful friend and a playmate always ready to give episodes that indispensable tone of lightness. The first season, with the episode Vienna terminusit aired in Austria on 10 November 1994 while in Italy the debut was on 8 September 1997.
