MAY 1: “Let’s build another future”, claims Solidaires
“Against the far right and ultra-liberalism, we must strengthen social struggles”, launches the trade union which calls for mobilization for the demonstration on May 1 at 10:30 a.m., Place Wilson in Dijon.
Press release from the Solidaires trade union of April 25, 2022:
The presidential elections have confirmed the exasperation of a large part of the employees and the population in front of the anti-social measures taken by the Macron government, for the greater benefit of a minority of rich people and big companies. The liberticidal policies of successive governments lock society into a security spiral. They are a springboard for the extreme right.
The elections were also once again an opportunity for the far right to exploit the fear of social downgrading, precariousness and poverty, to the point that part of the population was seduced by its false social measures. . As usual, the far right held a discourse of rejection and hatred of foreigners and immigrants.
Emmanuel Macron and his friends on all sides intend to amplify the action launched in the previous five-year term: austerity for employees and attack on social protection with the announcement of a new pension counter-reform. It is this policy which has constituted, to a large extent, the soil on which the extreme right continues to develop by maintaining a racist and hateful climate.
If Emmanuel Macron was elected, it is largely to eliminate the threat, even worse. Union Syndicale Solidaires has always fought, and will fight, measures which, rather than attacking shareholders and employers, pitting workers against each other, pressurize them and point immigrants as responsible for all ills. . Our Union rejects and fights fascism, xenophobia, racism, imperialism and hatred of others.
Against the extreme right and ultra-liberalism, we must reconsider social struggles and put forward solidarity and peace between peoples more than ever. Only the struggles to come, massive mobilizations could put the balance of power on the side of the interests of the workers, and of all, and allow us to respond to the attacks that are coming.
In this context, this May Day is of particular importance: it must therefore show that the social movement is present and in the streets!
For the Union syndicale solidaire, it is more necessary than ever to lead the fight for social rights, civil liberties and real equality. It is all of our struggles, so essential, such as those for the climate, gender equality, the rights of people who are discriminated against, stigmatized, disabled, which are also at stake through this May Day. Solidaires calls on all employees, unemployed people, retirees, students to be vigilant, mobilize and take action.
Together, let’s make May Day a day of struggle and mobilization against the far right, ultra-liberalism, a day for peace and international solidarity, social justice and democracy.
Let’s launch the counter offensive to build another future!
