ALL ANTWERP. “I really enjoy open spaces, where there is a lot of water and rust” (Antwerp)
Every day our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a chat. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Carolien Verheyen (39) and Nina (10).
“I myself live in Bonheiden, next to Mechelen, but my daughter Nina goes to school in Mortsel. Her father lives in Boechout, near here. we eat something first, and then we go for a walk in Mechelen, where it is wonderful to stay. Long walks make me happy. I really enjoy open spaces, where there is a lot of water and rust. Recently I met people from Antwerp during one of my trips, and they do not arise from the beauty of nature. I sometimes walk up to 16 kilometers.”
“I’m really happy to be back on my feet as I’ve had two surgeries. On my knee. I got really depressed from not being able to walk and enjoy nature. Getting up in the morning and seeing the sun shine, then I know I can hit the road. Then I’m happy. I’m still on health insurance fund because of those surgeries, so I go out every day. Today my daughter ‘must’ come along. But she doesn’t mind that much. We do cycle a bit, Nina is only 10 years old, so such a long trek is a bit too much of a good thing…” (jaba)
