Prague, Olomouc – Given the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Taizé brothers want to show solidarity with all who are suffering and encourage those who offer help to people who have had to flee their country. The three brothers will therefore set out on a two-week trip to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, and if possible they also want to visit Ukraine. This pilgrimage, which they undertake from April 29 to May 10, will take them to Prague, Olomouc, Bratislava, Prešov, Lublin, Warsaw, Łódže and Wrocław. Martin Šulc informed Christnet magazine about the pilgrimage.
One of these brothers writes: “Many Ukrainians have found refuge in the countries we visit. Through our visit, they were happy to witness the generosity of many people and shared their impressions with our friends in Ukraine and with all the young people who will come to Taizé this year or attend the upcoming European meetings this year in Italy in July and December. in Rostock, Germany. “
The last months and years have been very unusual in many ways for many people around the world. Finding ways to overcome various barriers and obstacles and create unity between peoples, nations and churches seems more important than ever. In many parts of Europe and beyond, concrete but also symbolic initiatives expressing solidarity and unity have begun to emerge, including the initiative of the Taizé brothers.
Prayers will be held in all the cities where the brothers stop. The brothers hope to be able to meet people who will share testimonies of their aid to the refugees, as well as people who have suffered in the war.
Meetings in the Czech Republic take place in Prague on April 29, 19:00 in the church of St. Martin in the Wall, Martinská 8, Prague 1 and in Olomouc on April 30 in the Dominican Church at 7.30 pm.
