Public transport Prague: Other electric buses and a new tram line from Motol to Vypich
The estimated costs for the creation of the electrification project of the first two mentioned lines will be approximately 20 million crowns. It is ten million for the second pair of buses and the project preparation for the Motol – Vypich tram line will require 25 million.
In the first case, electrification concerns the areas of Sídliště Na Dědině, Stodůlek, Luka or Nové Butovice. For lines 142 and 225, the project, including all necessary permits, should be prepared so that it can be carried out between 2026 and 2027. It will include an extension of charging in Řepy’s garages. The cost of electrification is tentatively estimated at 600 million, but the final amount will come, among other things, until the final form of the project or the result of the tender for the supplier.
The second pair of routes involves the electrification of line 174 from Vypich to Řeporyje Railway Station and line 184 from Vypich to Velká Ohrada. In the Vypich – Šafránkova section, both lines will have a common charging station. Electrification costs about 300 million.
DPP will purchase cars for the new electrified lines on an ongoing basis when renewing its fleet.
New track
Part of the second electrification is the construction of a 2.2-kilometer-long tram line in Kukulova Street. It aims to connect the tram line on Bělohorská and Plzeňská streets and improve transport services in this part of the city. Construction could begin before 2030. Prague costs an estimated 825 million. “Two years ago, we commissioned DPP to do a study, and based on that, we have already begun a change in the zoning plan. We have now commissioned DPP to do the project, “said Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr (Prague Sobě).
DPP together with the municipality plan to electrify other bus lines. At the beginning of January, the construction of a trolleybus line from Palmovka via Prosek and Letňany to Čakovice began. The construction should take about ten months. Trolleybus line 58 will run along the new line, which will replace bus line 140. Operation on the line will be provided by 15 new battery articulated trolleybuses, which the transport company will purchase from SOR Libchavy. Work is also being done to electrify, for example, lines 119, 131, 137, 176 or 191.
