PRESIDENTIAL: Alain Suguenot salutes “a victory that obliges”
The mayor of Beaune calls for the establishment of “a new balance between the executive and the legislative”.
Press release from the City of Beaune of April 24, 2022:
Emmanuel Macron is re-elected for a new term of 5 years.
My first message is of course a message of congratulations since, despite the international circumstances, he is the first President who, outside of a cohabitation, renews his mandate in this way.
It is the victory of republican values but this victory is a victory that obliges.
Which obliges the new President to listen carefully to the message of the French men and women, Burgundians and Beaunois who were very numerous to abstain, including those who did not adhere to the project and who imposed themselves today interrogations today.
We must therefore provide concrete answers which are not those of a single thought, but which open up prospects for our compatriots so that they feel listened to.
It is of course a message of reconstruction of the social bond but also of recognition of the territories, which have sometimes had the impression of being if not forgotten but somewhat neglected in favor of the metropolises.
It is also the message of too many of our fellow citizens who are being left by the wayside, victims of the fractures in our society, whether economic, social or digital.
In less than 2 months, the legislative elections will take place.
This is an opportunity for everyone to give a strong voice to the National Assembly, so that a new balance is established between the executive and the legislature.
I therefore call today for a strong mobilization for this major election, particularly in constituencies like ours, strong in its diversity, and in particular very rooted in rurality, which often brings lessons of common sense from which we have certainly need today if we are to face the challenges of tomorrow.
It is also this new majority which, together with the President of the Republic, will enable France to be given the means to deliver its universal message, in the troubled times that we are experiencing, including in the new international context.
