ODS and TOP 09 will go to the elections together in Prague 5
25.04.2022 11:33 | Press Release
The ODS and TOP 09 in Prague 5 have decided to set up a joint candidate for the municipal elections in September.
Together, they also want to confront different populations and activist currents, which often aim to rationally block and challenge all development projects or, conversely, lead to the thoughtless massive formation of money for unpromising, narrowly focused projects. The joint candidate will be named “TOGETHER for Prague 5 (ODS, TOP 09)”. The coalition partners are ready to present both the individual candidates and the joint program of the coalition by the end of May.
“We make it clear that, as at the government and Prague level, in Prague 5 we are able to agree, make well-thought-out compromises and professionally lead the city district. We do not want to shatter our strengths by running for ourselves in the elections, when for most of our voters the connection between ODS and TOP 09 is the most natural variant of cooperation, “said Zdeněk Zajíček, chairman of the ODS Prague 5 Regional Association. builds on our current, and I believe, successful cooperation for the benefit of Prague 5 and its people in this election period. We have made it clear and demonstrable for a long time that we are conservative and realistic politicians who have a clear idea of where and how Prague 5 would develop in a balanced way in all its localities in the coming years. So not just loud dreamers who often move their ideas out of reality or only in a narrow local interest, “he added.
The ability to negotiate and pull together in solving the development of Prague 5 and the daily affairs of its inhabitants was also emphasized by the chairman of the local TOP 09 and the current councilor of Prague 5, Jan Kavalírek. “We offer for the inhabitants of Prague 5 a clearly anchored, unified, authentic right-wing entity. I am convinced that we can present the quality results of our work so far and a clear and understandable program, “he emphasized. “We want to win the election and get the opportunity to continue working for Prague 5. We want Prague 5 to develop into a modern, safe and clean metropolis, and we offer the necessary energy, strength and competence to make this development,” he added.
- TOP 09
- More than you think
The Prague 5 City Council has 43 members. The representatives of both political parties agreed that the candidates would draw up in a proportion that corresponds to the result of the last municipal elections in 2018. In them, the ODS won 9 seats and TOP 09 7 seats. The leader of the candidate will be an ODS representative after the agreement of the coalition partners.
