Life-saving medicine is finally being used in Norway
After several months of negotiations between the Decision Forum for New Methods and the pharmaceutical company Vertex, the expensive but effective Kaftrio is finally approved for use in Norway.
This is confirmed by the Decision Forum for new methods in a press release.
This means that Norwegian patients with the serious and rare disease cystic fibrosis can also use help.
– A revolution
The medicine is already in use in over 20 countries, including Denmark. Here, Danish patients have had access to help for over a year, with enormous effect.
– Patients stop coughing, get more energy and have a better appetite. I am a marked increase in lung function, and it happens first and foremost after they start at Katzenstein, awning in Rigshospitalet in Denmark.
The medicine is so new that one does not know what the effect will be in the long run. Just as they are assured that the prognosis for CF patients gets better when they get help.
– Medicine is a revolution in CF treatment. When one sees such a marked increase in lung function, I also expect a higher life expectancy.
