Bulgaria invited to key meeting at US Rammstein base
The talks on Ukraine organized by Lloyd Austin will be attended by Defense Minister Dragomir Zakov and Chief of Defense Emil Eftimov.
Defense Minister Dragomir Zakov will take part in a discussion on Ukraine to be held at the US Rammstein base in Germany on Tuesday. The invitation to participate was sent by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin, according to the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense. The delegation led by Minister Zakov also includes the Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov.
Topics to be discussed include assessing the security situation, the current state of support for Ukraine, and the need to achieve long-term assistance to support the protection of territorial and economic activities, with the addition of the MoD.
Just three days ago, the Pentagon announced that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was gathering at Rammstein Air Force Base. This will be quoted by a Pentagon spokesman, who said the purpose of the meeting was to discuss with partners around the world what you need to have in Ukraine in the field of defense and how to ensure the security and confidence of the country in the long run.
Initially, it was not announced which ones, even how many countries were invited, as well as what format it will be. It later emerged that the meeting was expected to involve about 40 countries, including outside NATO. It also became known that the talks were not under the auspices of the Alliance, but in the United States.
Rammstein Air Force Base in southwestern Germany is the largest American base outside the United States. There are 50,000 Americans living in and around it, 8,000 of whom are in the military. The base is located on an area of 1,400 hectares and is headquartered in the US Air Force for Europe and Africa.
There is also a ground station for satellite and radio relay communications, which provides a challenge to international legal operations with drones led by Americans in Africa, the Middle East and other parts of the world. Whenever the Americans transfer troops, equipment and weapons to anywhere in the world, they use the military base in southwest Germany. At this base is the NATO Missile Shield Command Center, where US nuclear weapons are located, as well as the Alliance’s space center.
