Hanover (dpa / lni) – Commuters in the Hanover region and in the Verden district have to be prepared for local public transport this Monday. The Verdi services union has announced warning strikes. The RegioBus Hannover, the Verden-Walsroder railway and Aller-Bus were called upon to stop work, it said. In Hanover, the warning strike is to last from 1 a.m. to 1 a.m. the following day. In Verden, work is to be stopped from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.
With the warning strikes, the union will increase the pressure on employers ahead of the fourth round of negotiations, which begins on Tuesday (April 26) in Fulda. Warning strikes are also planned in Schleswig-Holstein, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg. Verdi is demanding a wage increase of 7 percent for around 6,000 employees of the non-federal railways who have fallen under the railway collective agreement (ETV). The employer side had recently offered an increase of 3 percent. Negotiations are being made with the German Railways Employers’ Association.
